Constructor - Builder

Many visitors to Nosara and Costa Rica in general, discover the “Pura Vida” and quickly realize that the apparently "primitive" Tico life is just the opposite. Rather, it is indeed so rich in nature, friendship and life itself, that a large number of people decide to acquire a portion of this precious land and to build their dream house there. Yes, that's what we did!

The next step is to find a builder who can bring your dream of a home to reality. There are many, and I mean really many,  builders all over Costa Rica who will say they "can build" your dream house. There are "builders" who came to Costa Rica just a few months ago and made 'construction' their job. Whatever you want, they "will build it for you". There are many natural forces in Costa Rica which you simply have to respect and adjust to, and that goes for construction too: Rain, heat, earthquakes, bugs, cost, material availability and many, many other things. The one piece of advice that I want to give you is to check out several contractors. Look at what they have built, not just recently, but more importantly, what they built years ago. Is it still standing and looking good? We did that, and consulted with a LOT of local people.

You would not believe some of the stories we heard! So, when we finally, after many recommendations, chose Juan Bermudez as our contractor, we were apprehensive, to say the least. We made many detailed drawings of our design, and even as somewhat of a perfectionist, I have to admit, that we got exactly what we wanted. This, I have later realized, is quite an accomplishment in Costa Rica. So if you are going to build your dream house, at least pick a builder, preferably local, who is experienced and can make it happen. Take a look at the pictures of our buildings, and you will see that they are made solidly and beautifully. Juan will show you his work and tell you what he can do – or not do, and yes, he speaks English, a BIG plus +++.  So, talk to other people and take a look, and decide for yourself, but WYSIWYG, What You See Is What You Get!
